NEW YORK | September 30, 2019 – Drake Star Partners announced today that it released its annual report on the Human Capital Management (HCM) sector. This research highlights specific M&A, as well as private and public market financing trends within the sector, along with activity in key segments such as recruiting, outsourcing, payroll and benefits.
This report is backed by the firm’s ongoing transactional work and research in HCM and is premised on Drake Star’s long-term in-depth sector analysis. This edition reveals ongoing robust activity with 107 M&A transactions in 2019 (year-to-date), and 150 transactions in the last 12 months. Financing conditions in sector also remain strong with healthy private market conditions and HCM equities, on average, outperforming NASDAQ. Fiverr completed its $110 million IPO in June 2019, another data point evidencing the sector being in favor.
As detailed in this update, strategic acquirers of all sizes as well as private equity firms are completing acquisitions. Notable deals include Hellman & Friedman’s going private transaction with The Ultimate Software Group for over $10.9 billion – the largest deal in the past 12 months and HealthEquity’s purchase of Wageworks for $2.4 billion. The focus on recruiting and talent acquisition seen in prior years continues to be a major point for companies.
