NEW YORK | SAN FRANCISCO | January 15, 2019 - Drake Star Partners announced today that it released its second report on the IT Automation Software sector, focused on technologies that enable IT departments to function more efficiently through automation, process management and analytics-driven intelligence. This report highlights product and technology development trends as well as M&A and financing activity within the sector, including key subsectors such as Development Operations (DevOps), IT Infrastructure Management, and Service Management.

The report also discusses valuations for leading public and target M&A companies. It leverages Drake Star’s transactional work in the sector advising on over 20 successful M&A and corporate finance transactions over the last 10 years.

As more and more business is conducted through software-driven, online and mobile channels in today’s digital economy, the distinctions between IT departments and business units are becoming blurred. To succeed in the digital economy, companies of all kinds are writing, deploying and supporting more and more application software, and having to do so at a faster pace. This requires increasingly sophisticated tools to automate processes wherever possible and use available resources more efficiently, while insuring the highest network and application performance quality and enabling optimized productivity of the workforce.

James Turino, Managing Partner at Drake Star Partners said, “Comprising nearly $30 billion in annual spending, this sector continues to grow at double digit yearly rates, led by strong adoption of DevOps technologies by enterprise users. As we are seeing in other areas of enterprise computing, newer, disruptive technologies are gaining market share from large incumbent players, producing a compelling landscape for M&A and new investment.”
