AMSTERDAM | MUNICH | March 28, 2018 – Drake Star Partners has announced it won the 2017 “Deal of the Year” award delivered by the Dutch Corporate Finance Association (DCFA). The award was presented during their first annual seminar on March 22, at TIAS School for Business and Society / Tilburg University.

Drake Star Partners earned this honor for its role as exclusive investment banking advisor to NewMotion and its acquisition by Shell. NewMotion is the market leader in offering charging solutions for electric vehicles in Europe. Shell, one of the world’s largest oil & gas companies, signed an agreement to buy NewMotion back in October 2017 in a deal that will enable both companies to accelerate the transition to low-carbon transport.

Drake Star Partners accepted the award and commented: “It is a true honor to have the DCFA recognize this transaction as a landmark, trend-setting deal. In addition to our role in NewMotion’s acquisition by Shell, we believe that the electric vehicle segment will prove to be an extremely dynamic sector, especially with a burgeoning mobility cluster and expertise stemming from The Netherlands. We can already foresee strong cross-border potential within this sector, with many more EV companies looking for such growth opportunities.”

The DCFA is a national multidisciplinary association for professionals engaged in the field of mergers and acquisitions. Its jury made its choice based on the expertise and the multidisciplinary nature of the deal team, creativity in the execution of the transaction and the results achieved.

Drake Star Partners is also being nominated for three awards at the upcoming M&A Advisor’s annual EMEA Corporate Growth Awards, which will be held on April 25, in London:

  1. Transaction of the Year (over £50MM - £75MM) –  Majority Acquisition and Equity Growth Funding of Acrolinx by Genui
  2. Transaction of the Year (over £75MM - £100MM) – Acquisition of NewMotion by Shell (RDS-A)
  3. Energy Deal of the Year – Acquisition of NewMotion by Shell (RDS-A)
