NEW YORK | October 13, 2020 – Award-winning technology, media and communications (TMC) global investment bank Drake Star Partners announced today that seasoned TMC investment banker Ron Rivera, has joined the firm, operating from New York and Atlanta as a Partner.

Ron’s experience includes nearly 30 years of technology investment banking and M&A advisory services to public and private clients as well as investors within various sectors of the broad Technology and Software industries. Most recently, Ron served as Head of U.S. Technology, Media & Telecom Investment Banking at Deloitte Corporate Finance LLC (“Deloitte”), serving in that role for nearly a decade.

Ron will focus on accelerating and expanding Drake Star’s global Software and related technology footprint in the U.S. and North America, also assisting on a global basis the firm’s established presence across Europe, and its growing activity elsewhere worldwide.  Prior to joining Drake Star, Ron led landmark Software and Technology deals with clients and counterparties including Accenture, Belkin, Nuance Communications, Oracle, Salesforce.com, Zones, Goldman Sachs, Bregal Sagemount, The Gores Group, Marlin Equity, and many other market-leading companies and private equity firms.

In addition to Software, Ron will also bring significant experience in the areas of mobility and automotive technology & services/IoT.  While with Deloitte, Ron helped establish and led what became a premier global advisory franchise, advising clients such as Blackberry, Daimler, Panasonic, Foxconn, NTT Communications, U.S. Cellular and Bose as well as a host of innovative companies defining a new era within mobility and technology connectivity.  Ron will assist Drake Star’s global Mobility & New Energy team and the firm’s Communications / IoT vertical practices to further expand their reach.

Throughout his career, Ron has assisted clients in completing over $15 billion in M&A and corporate advisory transactions globally.  His activities have included marketing, structuring, and executing a broad set of transactions including M&A sell/buy-side advisory, debt, and equity recapitalizations (including private placements and public offerings), and other strategic M&A and capital advisory services.

Before joining Drake Star Partners, Ron was Head of U.S. Technology, Media, and Telecom Investment Banking at Deloitte.  Previously, Ron has served in various senior leadership and technology sector coverage roles with nationally and internally recognized investment banks, including Wachovia Corporation, SG Cowen Securities, NationsBanc Montgomery Securities and Cowen & Company.  Ron began his career at Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto.
